Priest Uendi Hostilia Marcella
Wendy first encountered Antinous while studying Studio Art and Classical Archaeology during the Spring of 2003. Shortly after, she crept into an old bookstore in New York City and purchased Memoirs of Hadrian, soon followed by Beloved and God.
Antinous, for her, represents tragedy, beauty, mystery, love and the best in mankind ... his soul forever merged with the darkness of death and the brief brilliance of life.
The idea for the website originated from a small Antinous poetry book Uendi was working on during the Summer of 2005. Due to college and work however, she was never able to complete the project.
The website itself began to take shape during December 2006. It was first published under the name "Ephebe Eternal". Wendy wanted to do something in honor of Antinous, and share that love and appreciation with others.
In May 2007, Wendy moved to Hollywood to join forces with Antonius N. Subia and train to be a Priest of Antinous.
Antonius Subia (known as The Flamen) is founder of the modern day Religion of Antinous. Uendi became friends with Antonius while dining on buttered cucumber sandwiches and conversing about funeral clothes.
After a three day road trip from New York City to the West Coast, she arrived in the wonderful metropolis of Los Angeles.
With the help of Priest Hernestus Gill and Knight Stephanos, they established the Hollywood Temple of Antinous in October 2007.
Becoming a Priest
In November 2007, Wendy became the first female Priest of Antinous. She acquired the name of Uendi Hostilia Marcella and vowed to love Antinous for eternity.
In May of 2008, Uendi launched her second Antinous website renamed "Antinous Land."
Antinous Land on Youtube
Starting in September 2008, Uendi began work on a YouTube channel devoted to Antinous. Her first video was entitled "Antinous 101: The Lion Hunt."
